WOW, new member Margot gave a very interesting presentation on her work with the Young Canadians, the dance troupe with the Calgary Stampede. She established the Young Canadians School of the Performing Arts. She also choreographed many performances including the Rotary International promotion of the Calgary convention in Nice, Italy.

The Young Canadians of the Calgary Stampede have been captivating audiences at the Grandstand Show for more than 44 years with their energetic dance and vocal performances. In 1964 Randy Avery brought a group of local dancers to perform on a one-time only basis, but the audience’s reaction was so enthusiastic that it was decided to expand the concept and train a group of dancers to be a regular part of the show. For twenty-five years until 1991, Margot McDermott was the Young Canadians’ Artistic Director, guiding the troupe through the school year as well as the Grandstand Show.
